MOSCOW WELCOMES A NEW TENNIS TOURNAMENT

From February 27 to March 6, ATP Challenger Tour 80 Moscow Cup will be held with the support of the Moscow Sports Department.  The prize money for the tournament will be $ 53,000.  

The Moscow Open Tennis Championships have a rich history and have been held for more than 80 years – since 1937. They are the oldest and most popular tennis competitions in Russia, for the last 17 years, with the support of the Moscow Sports Department, they have been held in the status of professional ITF tournaments and the Russian Tennis Tour.

This year, the organizers have raised the status of the competition, and the Russian men’s tennis calendar has been supplemented with the ATP Challenger Tour 80 Moscow Cup tournament.  

Among the participants of the tournament are famous players such as Evgeny Donskoy (Russia) the ex-65th racket of the world, winner of the Davis Cup and the ATP CUP (as a captain) in 2021; Roman Safiullin (Russia) – world No. 146 , winner of the Davis Cup and the ATP Cup in 2021; Vasek Pospisil – Canadian tennis player of Czech origin, winner of one Grand Slam tournament in men’s doubles (Wimbledon 2014), winner of seven ATP tournaments in doubles, ex-4th world racket in doubles, a finalist of the Davis Cup 2019, winner of the ATP award in the nomination “Return of the Year 2020”; Mirza Basic (Bosnia and Herzegovina) is ex-74th racket of the world, winner of 1 ATP title ; Lukas Rosol ex-26th racket of the world, winner of two ATP singles titles; Misha Zverev (Germany) ex-25th racket of the world, winner of 1 ATP title, as well as Russians Pavel Kotov (No. 183 world ranking), Andrey Kuznetsov (No. 246 world ranking), Evgeny Tyurnev (No. 276 world ranking), Alexey Vatutin (No. 338 world ranking ), Alibek Kachmazov (World ranking No. 452), Artem Dubrivny (World ranking No. 492), Daniil Golubev (World ranking No. 824) and other tennis players.

The tournament will be hosted by the SC “Multisport” (Moscow, Luzhniki str., 24/10). The ATP Supervisor of the tournament is Valery Lutkov (international umpire, gold badge “Referee”).

The draw ceremony of the ATP Challenger Tour 80 Moscow Cup will take place on February 26 at 19:00. The qualification matches will start on Sunday, February 27, and the main draw matches will start on February 28. The semifinals and the doubles final will be held on Saturday, March 5. After the doubles final, there will be an award ceremony. The singles final will be held on Sunday, March 6.

Also among the organizers of the tournament are the Moscow Tennis Federation and kids tennis school “Belokamennaya”.
