St. Petersburg Ladies Trophy has been voted as the WTA 500 Tournament of the Year by the WTA player body for the third time. WTA CEO Steve Simon personally congratulated the tournament organizing committee, its director general Alexander Medvedev and the CEO of the company-organizer “Formula Tennis-Hockey”, director of the WTA tournament Natalia Kamelzon on this outstanding achievement. His congratulatory message namely says: “This is an incredible achievement and proves the tremendous amount of hard work put in by you and your team and demonstrates the dedication provided to deliver a welcoming experience for the WTA athletes. Your selection to win this year takes on even greater significance given the challenges the last two seasons have presented. The players continue to recognize your efforts in going the extra mile for them, which has inspired them to compete at their highest level. The time and effort you showcase each year to elevate the tournament to new heights has not gone unnoticed, and we’re especially proud to honor you as a standout tournament that has given women’s tennis such a special stage on which to compete”.

The inaugural St. Petersburg Ladies Trophy was held in 2016. During the season-2022 this WTA500 tournament will take place in St. Petersburg from February 7 till February 13. The reigning champion is the Russian Daria Kasatkina.
